Niepoort 20 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Bottled 2010. A sweet nose of maple syrup, honey, and in the background faint clove and orange marmalade. The palate borders on being a bit sweet for just a second until the acidity kicks in and then it becomes very light on its feet and loses that very brief overt sweetness. Old wood varnish, mahogany, orange peel, spices, and maple dominate the complex palate. The palate and long lingering finish mirror each other. A very well balanced 20 year tawny.
