This bottle was a gift from the venerable Roy Hersh, shortly after we met several years ago. I decided to open it tonight to celebrate one of those good days where you get more accomplished that you ever image you'd be able to: getting the October newsletter published in record time, closing a big deal at work, taking the kids to soccer practice, followed by carving pumpkins and finishing my son's "Ipod" costume for trick-or-treating tomorrow night. Utterly exhausted, yes, but nothing like rewarding yourself with a nice tawny...

The color has a touch of ruby left, which turns light brown at the edges. Nuts and a touch of caramel on the nose. Toasted almonds on the approach, with just a touch of spirit on the mid-palate. Nice caramel notes rounding off the medium finish. 88 points.
