1982 Quinta da Sequeira Colheita port

Quinta da Sequeira is over 100 years old and located in Douro Superior. Seem to have a wide selection of Douro wines (white, rose and reds). In addition to having a white late harvest wine, their ports consist of basic white, tawny, ruby and 10 years tawny. However they also have some older colheitas from 1951, 1963, 1970 and 1982. So I came across the 1982 and purchased a bottle for testing.
Bottled 2014. Decanted 2 hours (needed). Quite dark brown colour at the opening of the bottle, and becoming darker during the decanting period. Old style aroma of oak, spices, nuts, touch of citrus and hints of alcohol. Full body. Taste is powerful, “fat”, to some extent elegant, wood spices, nuts, minerals. Not sweet. Some bitterness at the very end of the taste. Nice tough old style. Well structured. Medium to long aftertaste. A “big” colheita that may be not of interest for everyone. 93 pts.
