1964 Krohn Colheita Branco

Post by Edward J »

2008 bottling. I had opened this up the night before and my wife and I enjoyed a glass. It was still a bit tight with a little bottle stink but very good. Sharp acidity to balance out the sweetness. How sweet was it? Sweeter than the TBA I served with dessert, and was easily WOTN. While others were quaffing Sparklers, we enjoyed the Colheita Branco. It had opened up and was showing just right. Toffee, citrus, and a hint of almond? No hint of alcohol burn and a finish that went on a long slide. The only knock I could come up with would be it might have been a bit more complex? I then poured a taste for my BIL who brews beer and is not much of a wine drinker let alone Port. "WOW, that is soo smooth and delicious" as he called over others to try it. Same response from the next 3 people, "Wow". I managed to spill another couple of ounces in my glass before it vanished in a flash. Even the bottle was gone (my son) and I reflected on the happy fact that I indeed have another bottle sitting in the cellar. 94 pts.

Awesome note and sounds like a fun family gathering...and a good way to get others to realize there are good Ports out there.
