2010 Van Zellers Late Bottled Vintage Port

Post by John M. »

Presents nicely with a moderate weight, dark purple core. Touch of plum and dark berry. The first sips are pleasant enough except for a tinge of smokey green cedar, reminds me of a Crasto LBV in a way but seems disjointed. Everything around this odd flavor is fine, dark berries, seems as if its aged a little, nice finish. I drink this in little bits over the next week to see what happens...that smokey green wood flavor just persists. I wonder what it will evolve to if aged for a decade. I struggled with this one; trying to figure out if the bottle was flawed or if this what was intended---would it blow off. Tempted to get another, maybe two and save one for 5-10 years.
