Feuerheerd Reserva Ruby $15 on sale in PA
Tasted on: 2/9/2016
Not decanted

I used John M.'s template from the Tasting Note/Score Structure thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=39225

Color: brick
Rim: maroon
Clarity: clear [though so dark it was opaque. I figure clarity refers to whether there was sediment; there was none.]

Body: medium

Nose: citrus

Taste: maybe stewed fruit?

Mouthfeel:
-Acidity: medium
-Tannins: medium
-Sweetness Type: little sweetness, hit early. tasted artificial, like candy
-Finish: short

A category we added to this template was how 'hot' was the alcohol.
The alcohol in this tasted 'medium' hot.

Conclusion: There are others I like much better that cost the same or less. Would I drink this again? Yes, but I wouldn't be eager to. Would I buy it again? No.
Rating: 80

Doesn't sound very pleasurable for a Ruby Reserve. Wonderful note on it though!

Not that it's widely available here, but sounds like one I'll avoid anyway!

thanks!

i think maybe it's a dryer Ruby and that's a flavor i'm not used to when thinking of Port so it was counter to my expectations, though i prefer it in red wines. i'm not good at picking out flavors and there are some in the template that i wouldn't know without being told, so my specific assessment may have been off on that. but i definitely wasn't a fan of the artificial, candy-like sweetness. and i love candy!

i liked that it was medium bodied, the heavier the better for me. but that was pretty much its only good quality.

it's too bad because here in PA it goes on sale for $14-$15 several times a year.

now i'm excited to make TNs on all the Ports i drink! maybe folks will notice patterns in my tastes that i never have, or maybe i will. :winebath:
