1966 Taylor Single Harvest Tawny Port

Bottled in 2015. The color is a deep brown, belying its age, that is often seen from tawny's that also happen to be from a Classically Declared year. The nose is full of baked brown sugar, lots of marzipan, some light VA, and mahogany. I had to force myself to stop smelling it, it was so good. On the palate this comes of as being a bit to concentrated, for about 2 seconds. Then the acidity really starts to kick in and balance it out. Tons of maple and toffee, brown sugar, and cloves. That gives way as the flavors shift to the back end where some VA pops out, cinnamon, spices, and then more of that maple and cloves starts to come back around on the very long finish. This is wonderful right now but it still has so much life left in it I can only imagine this to get better with more time in wood. I do hope TFP keeps some of this for another release in 2026. This would make a wonderful 50th gift for anyone who likes Port.
