This was a new acquaintance for me. Their other high level Douro reds have been Quinta da Leda and Reserva Especial (not to forget the previous Barca Velha). Antonia Adelaide Ferreira is produced from old vines at Quinta da Leda and Quinta do Seixo. Been produced in years 2008 + 2009 + 2010 + 2011.

Decanted 2.5 hrs (will try more next time). Deep dark, dark red colour. Appealing aroma showing a complex and nice combination of berries / oak / minerals in a heavy way, and a touch of flowers. Full body. First impression of the taste is a well-structured wine with minerals more evident than in many other Douro reds. Very nice, and these minerals are complemented by berries being there all the way, together with some oak. Good balance fruit / acidity. Although this Douro red is too young to be consumed, it is still very nice already at this stage. However, it should be kept in the cellar for some years with a great potential. If you have room in your cellar, and you can find it, then buy it. Score as it is today 93 pts.
