For The Love Of Port

Bottled in 2008. A friend kindly brought this to lunch yesterday to share with the group. A cloudy brown with a yellow edge. There was lots of brown sugar, cloves, toffee, spices and light citrus that filled the mouth and kept everyone going back for more. The long finish was remarkably consistent with the palate. A lovely bottle. This next part is being nit-picky for the serious tawny lovers; this is starting to lose that crisp freshness that often happens when a tawny is in bottle for a while. Most people probably wouldn't notice it, but all you tawny-Port-drinking-machines will. I'd suggest the next year or two is best to consume this older bottling of it.

Could transport possibly have contributed to the cloudiness and not quite peak freshness?

So what you're saying is that it's just starting to mellow and get good?

Hah! It's been pretty consistent with these since they were bought. And from my experience this producer's tawny's tend to show better closer to the bottling date.
