1955 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

Base neck, generally sound cork, very slight seepage. Stubbornly cloudy, medium-light garnet color, orange at the rim. Quite spirity throughout, but with a firm core of dusty, sweet fruit. No tannins, minimal acidity, decent length and tawny notes on the finish. This bottle was not going to improve with further aging, but still gave pleasure after a lengthy decant. 91 points

I feel the descriptor "firm core" is a hallmark of Smith Woodhouse. Glad it showed well for you!
