Memories from a remarkable Port event

These tastings take place every couple of years and the next one will be circa 2019-2020. While Portugal was occupied fighting the Spanish, what remained of the thinly protected Empire was lost to the armadas of the British and Dutch forces. Portuguese outposts in India and China were taken over.

I'm confused by this, because the two outposts that immediately come to mind are Goa in India and Macau in China, and these were not taken over during this time. The Portuguese ruled Goa from 1510 to 1961, and Macau from roughly 1557 to 1999. Are there some other outposts being referred to?

We shouldn't forget Guinea-Bissau which gained it's independence from Portugal in 1974, and then Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, and Sao Tomé and Principe, all gaining their independence in 1975.

Edit: What was I thinking, I forgot East Timor, also in 1975! I should mention that all this came about as a result of political upheaval in Portugal, in what they called the "Carnation Revolution and free elections in 1975 that resulted in a socialist government and withdrwal from their colonial territories.

I was specifically focused on and questioning the statement quoted, about outposts in China and India while they were fighting the Spanish.
