1992 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Small amounts of sediment, cork came right out. Decanted at cellar temp.

+3.5 hours -- aromas of cherries and bark. Lots of fruit on the palate and strong tannins that get in the way a bit. Nice acidity.

+5 hours -- tannins have mellowed a bit, but still get in the way.

+7 hours -- tannins have receded considerably and this drinking very nicely. Fairly sweet.

This needs are fair amount of decanting to be at its best, but is nice if not a tad sweet. An enjoyable port but very tannic still. I'll check in on this again in 5 years.

All though I've only had this once, it's probably one of my least favorite Vesuvio since the Symington's first vintage in 1989. Of course, that could have been an off bottle...must find another bottle and try again. Thanks for the positive note.

Andy, it was fairly good although I have drank many ports that are better. Still, I'd give this a 90 or so. We'll see how it drinks tonight...
