Well after 7 weeks of antibiotics and anti inflammatory pills ,2 visits to hospital and no drink I decided to celebrate going cold turkey from the drugs with the above and my first post in the tasting note section.

Fonseca Guimaraens 1988

Decanted for 2hrs and consumed over the next two. It was a good purple red colour with a rich spicy nose, raisins red fruit and alcohol the dominant features. On the palate again alcohol ( which I do like), good fruit, Cherry plum and also a hint of raisins. The finish was a reasonable length and on the dry side( Unresolved tannin?).

Overall a young port for its age, powerfull and rich but not yet fully integrated. I definitely like this and am glad I bought a case but I think it has a few more years yet to smooth out ,integrate and provide even more drinking pleasure.
