1977 Barros Colheita Port -- [bottled 2006]

1977 Barros Colheita [bottled in 2006]
As expected with 29 years of age, this was a fully tawny colour with dominant browns and very little tinge of red/pink.
With caramel, vanilla and nuts on the nose, it promised good things.
Short, sweet taste that dried out in the mid-palate. Dominated by vanilla and caramel, the palate was smooth and sensuous with very little heat. Smooth and mellow butterscotch in the rear-palate and a shorter finish. Very little grip, yet complex enough to offer multiple waves of enjoyment, I found this Colheita to be better than the last time I had it at home. I purchased the last half bottle remaining in the store and will likely pick up a couple more bottles as it is from my wife's birth year and is a very good Port and a decent deal, price-wise.
