TN: Concieto 2015 Douro Red Wine

Post by Bradley Bogdan »

Purchased on closeout recently for $35.

14% ABV

Appearance: Inky black, dark and brooding.

Nose: Dark berry fruits, fresh forest-y notes, a bit of game.

Palate: Enters with with blackberry and currant, braced with stern tannin, a middle full of earthy berries and a hint of violet, and a close of sour Cherry, more fresh forest branch, and stern, mineral driven tannin.

Thoughts: This feels like a well made wine, but one that is brutally young. Drinking this over the last three days, it has softened only moderately. I can see why this hit closeout, most people probably never gave it a second shot. Food helps some.

I’ll be grabbing another bottle or two though, to try in a decade or so.

Don't see this wine very often around my parts. Sounds like a good old school Douro wine that needs time in the cellar. Hopefully you can put some aside for later.
