2016 Casa Ferreirinha Douro Quinta da Leda - Portugal, Douro (9/19/2021)
Very dark core, glowing magenta rim. Looks young - and it is!. Nose was a little closed on day one, but has opened up on day two. Pear, blackberry, mushroom, and forest floor nose. This was pretty heavy on day one, but much more integrated on day two and is less heavy and more balanced. Very good acidity. The tannins are so fine that it appears to be lacking structure... but there is plenty of that. Medium length finish. I wish it was longer, but it fades and I feel like it's holding back. All in all - it's a solid Quinta da Leda, but I much prefer the 2015 and the fabulous 2017. Time in the cellar is needed. I'd say 3 -7 years. (93 pts.)
