2018 Quevedo Organic Late Bottled Vintage Port

Post by Glenn E. »

2018 Quevedo Organic LBV (no bottling date on bottle)
There may be no bottling date on the bottle, but it has to be 2022 since an LBV must be aged for 4-6 years. Ergo 2022 is the first year that it could have been bottled.

Day 12 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: inky dark magenta, 1.5 pens, pink rim. Clean and pretty.

Nose: lively and fruity, grape, mulberry, blackberry pie filling, faint green note.

Palate: initially fruity with mostly purple fruits and a green (faintly bitter) note. Chalky tannins. Med body, neutral- sweetness. The faint bitter note grows and then carries into the finish. The finish itself is short-ish with a stemmy tail. Not really my style as it's leaning toward dry from the middle, but seems well made.
Score: 89 points. I would finish the glass and would likely accept more if offered, but I probably wouldn't ask for more. Ergo the 87-89 range for me. I slightly prefer the flavor profile of day 11 Organic Ruby Reserve, but this is clearly a better Port.
