Nose: In the nose a lot of alcohol. It has a powerful nose but it’s not very complex. Liquorice, dark fruit, dark chocolate. There is also an amaretto cookie element coming through which is quite nice.
Taste: A creamy velvet texture. At the start a lot of freshness which is followed up very quickly with a lot of alcohol that attacks the palate. Dried fruit, some liquorice, and a really nice acidity.
Thickness/ Viscosity for me is pretty important in wine but especially in Port.
This Port is pretty thick; however it lacks the thickness/amount of fruit to balance out the alcohol. This certainly isn’t a bad Port but for me it just seems a bit out of balance.
