1945 Sandeman Vintage Port

Oporto bottled in 1947 and showing some signs of seepage the bottle of 1945 Sandeman was a bit vegetal on the nose with a scent similar to green olives. It had a nice consistency in the glass and was reddish brown and ruby in color. On the palate it was very sweet and smooth with vanilla and a bit of olive, it had a decent finish of about 13 seconds. The slightly vegetal characteristics did not detract from the lovely flavor of this wartime rarity, however I'm sure this particular bottle was not '45 Sandeman at it's best.
