1997 Quinta do Vesuvio vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

8 years since last bottle of this vintage. Cork came out in one piece (barely) with a regular corkscrew. Decanted 5.5 hrs, which was OK. Plenty of small sediments. Needed double-decanting. Dark red with a touch of brown. Fruity aroma of dark red berries and also some anis. Full body. Subdued power and elegance with some sweetness in the background. Well-integrated. Acidity/sweetness was good at start, but towards the end the acidity was building up. Medium length aftertaste. In general aroma is better than the taste. 91 pts.
