2015 Sogrape Legado Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

This wine is made at Quinta da Leda, which is the same wine yard as the Casa Ferreirinha-wines Barca Velha, Reserva Especial and Quinta da Leda are produced. This Douro red wine is made by the previous owner Fernando Guedes (Man. Director 1950-2000) as a tribute to the Guedes family. The price level is abt the same as Casa Ferreirinha Reserva Especial.

13.5 % alc. Stored 30 months in new french barrels. Decanted 4 hrs which worked well. Plenty of sediments at decanting. Deep dark red colour. Wonderful aroma of fruit, herbs, spices and a touch of wood. Full body. Powerful, elegant, pleasant, fruit, “polished tannins” and soil. Harmonious, well-structured and well-balanced acidity/sweetness. Slightly dry towards the end (schist). Consist of eight different grapes: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Donzelinho, Tinta Roriz, Tinta da Barca, Rufete, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca. A long never-ending complex aftertaste. 96 pts.

Pretty hard to find wine. I did a small horizontal of these a few years ago and enjoyed them. Not cheap.
