2001 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

2001 Quinta do Vesuvio VP. ~10 hr decant. Still very youthful fruit. Has a very sweet profile compared to other surrounding vintages. Though this started to mellow and balance out about 7-8 hrs after decanting. A bit lighter in complexity compared to the surrounding 2000 and 2003 vintages. Yet still has plenty of grip and interest. While that fruit is still very youthful, the overall development is trailing behind. Would speculate this has another 7-10 yrs of upside development before it gets a bit too simple for the sweetness. Or it’s in a tight phase. Time will tell…
