Looks interesting. Hopefully it will have a soft open in May so that I can stop by and check it out while I'm there.

Somehow I doubt that it's going to drag me away from Bacchus Vini and/or LaDo, though. The article makes it sound too commercial for my taste. (Like World of Wine. Was fun to visit once or twice, but don't need to go again.)

Looking on a map, it seems out of the way.

I don’t think it’s too far out of the way. It’s only a block north of Lello and the Clérigos. It’s easy to get to by metro / uber / tram.

I’d love for it to have been the building next to the Factory House, but where it is will likely be quieter.

This part of the city is extremely busy, especially at night! If they plan to bring nice cocktails as a main part of their business, this is definitively the area to do it.

I came from a dinner nearby and passed by it. It seemed a very young crowd and had I not had an event to go to, would have gone in and checked it out. It is definitely NOT out of the way at all. Very centrally located. I will get there eventually, but there are a LOT of great places to visit nowadays.

The restaurant critic Nick Lander visited the Townhouse recently and wrote a review, which you can find here.

Made it to Matriarca on Wednesday and had a nice lunch there. Downstairs is a bit spartan in terms of simple decor with nothing on the walls. The wine bar and serving area is spacious and it was fairly quiet, but it was lunch time which is fairly new there. Very friendly service. Afterwards, we were given a tour of the upper floors and there are quite a few. One will be like a private club. One for events open to the public, one for classes, etc. The stairways have all kinds of great old photos, and cool Port-related promo pieces which are great. I will likely put the photos in the newsletter and also on FB/IG. The food was wonderful, simply prepared and went well with a 2022 Vertice Rose. The upper floors will only be ready for prime time next month and there is a kitchen up there too that looks great and can handle lots of business. They are still in the "soft opening" mode and so the staff is learning and they are really nice and welcoming. Solid A.

What’s the nearest metro station? Or bus stop?

Nearest light rail is Hospital de Santo Antonio stop it seems.

But Clerigos is also fairly close.

I probably wouldn't mess with the metro, since Aliados is probably the closest, but you might as well walk from São Bento. Now if you were elsewhere, like across the river, then it might make sense.

The Carmo tramp stop looks close. That's across from the hospital that Andy mentioned. And there are some bus options.

It's really not that far from the river. It's essentially about as far from Sao Bento as Sao Bento is from the bridge. Sao Bento is due north of the bridge, then the Townhouse is northwest of Sao Bento.

It's much closer than Rua Santa Catarina (the walking street), for example.

Or it's basically 2 blocks (maybe 3, they're pretty irregularly shaped) north of the Clerigos tower.

Google Maps

Note that the Google Maps marker is incorrect - it's the building on the corner, not the one now marked. Which is weird, because I'm the one who added the marker to Google Maps in the first place, and I know that I marked the correct building. So someone else moved it to the wrong building for whatever reason.

Yes, it is very easy to get to for sure. Sorry I did not check back until now. It is a fairly non-descript building and "signage" is minimalist to say the least. If you check my photos from earlier today on FB, you will see what I am talking about. If you look on a phone or iPad, you can even see the whole menu that I photographed.
