2003 Quinta do Vesuvio VP

Post by Bradley Bogdan »

6 Hour Decant

Round, effusively fruity nose, bringing tons of dark berry fruit, ripe and jammy. A little foresty bramble keeps it from being too monolithic or boring.

The palate is soft and rich, with loads of jammy berry fruit, a panoply of blackberry and every other berry carry through to some sweet, but still present at the back end, tanninc grip. Still, this is clearly a softer, sweeter, very primary VP, with a very dark, opaque color and very approachable presentation. It does all cause me to wonder a bit how much this has in terms of legs to age, but theres so much jammy fruit here I can't imagine its going anywhere poorly for the next 15+.

A good year. And one of my favorites of the vintage.
