NV Blackett 40 Year Old Tawny Port

Post by John M. »

At a restaurant, a new, unopened bottle. Bottled in 2024. Was quite excited to this--have only heard of Blackett, never had any. Lighting was poor so my color observations are not ideal, clear and moderate weight. Candied yellow raisins with Meer lemon with dissolved powder sugar. Hints of walnut paste. Lighter weight than expected and not as complex as I was expecting. Good balance and finish but I just was not overwhelmed--as a 40 TWAIOA should. While what it offers in enjoyment is very good, if served blind I would have guessed 20-30 years old. I need to try this again to make sure I was not overly affected by the preceding dinner.
