The scent of the 1970 Dow was of molasses, maple syrup, and a bit of green olive. It had a perfect red and black raspberry hue in the glass. The overwhelming taste was of fruit, mainly strawberry and blackberry. It was very fresh on the palate with a short 8 second finish. Overall the 1970 Dow is a classic Port, very well rounded in all aspects and probably in it's prime now.

I don't think Moses didn't like it ..he's just been low balling everything lately and needs a swift kick in the @ss!
The Dow was excellent!
Decanting time was an hour ...then 3 hours.
I can't remember why I did not rate it higher at the time, but perhaps it was a little "dull" tasting. Actually, it was a quite good port, but thinking that 70 was the best over all vintage, I was hoping for a real blockbuster.
I found the Ferreira more intesting, and the 77 Dow when it's on, to be better than the 70 Dow in this case.
Sean is correct that my ratings have been on the low side, or my expectations have been on the high side. I was within a point or two to him on all of the 70 vintages that day and often we have the same ratings... Maybe someone else is off the mark?
