20 Year Old Tawny Port by Warre's

Post by Andy Velebil »

Bottled in 2007

The color is a medium brown that fades at the edges, which are just starting to show some slight yellowing. The nose is soft orange marmalade and butterscotch. The first thing I noticed was a distinct orange peel followed immediately by some solid acidity then some light maple and a big dose of heat on the back palate and finish. This has a fairly medium weight body and is quite lean on flavor and complexity. It's not bad, it's just a decent lighter weight 20 year old. However that said, there are other 20 year old tawny's out there which are far better for around the same price, the Sandeman to name one. I'm not sure if this the same juice as the Otima 20 year, but the Otima I've had in the past has been far better than this bottle. 86 points
