I picked this jewel up in the clearance bin at Martignetti's in Brighton. They have a bunch of Dao's, and Sherry, along with 2 bottles of this which I picked up. 1999 Vintage and has a nice mouth feel with very fine bubbles and a toasted nose. We could taste the age for sure. Very dry and much more involved than Vinho Verde. Sabered the top off which came out perfect and no wine loss. Pretty serious wine actually and I am looking forward to the next bottle; $9.99  .

Producer is Quinta da Romeira, located in Bucelas, a mere 30-minute north of Lisbon, and one of the companies that belongs to the Companhia das Quintas group.

Yes that is it. Funny, I see the Borlido too on their site. Small world. I don't know if the distributor still has 99's in stock, but even a couple of years newer would still be worth picking up at the right price.

Is that the Martignetti's on Soldiers Field Road?

I went to the North End store last month and found it closed up.

Yes, that is the one. North End one closed and the Brighton store has been dumping a lot of their stock. Real odd ball Italian wines with age on them for cheap. There's a ton of Sherry worth picking up. Several decent Burgundy's. They did have a few cases of Dow's Crust and Dow's Colheita, as well as Noval LBV's; but that was a few months ago.

Martignetti's has one of the best clearence bins; it changes frequently and they dump stuff from their importing warehouse that has age and has been well kept.

There's plenty of 2000 Dao Reserves for $3.99 currently.
