10 Year Old Tawny Port by Burmester

This was the best 10 year tawny I tasted in Portugal last year and I was concerned my judgement was clouded by "vacation goggles". My concerns were quickly relieved. This bottle (with a bottling date of 2007) showed the viscosity, depth and complexity I remembered. Somewhere between a 10 and 20 year in texture. Luscious caramel flavors with dried fruits and wonderful acidity. I remember paying about $20 in Portugal for this last year and this bottle is now over $30. Still worth the price, but getting close to my limit for the genre. The dollar/euro exchange rate is killing me.

Very enjoyable wine to say the least.

If you think the Euro is killing you here in the USA, you should have been over there a week ago at $1.55 dollars/Euro. When you were there last October, things were still relatively inexpensive by comparison!
