Unfiltered.

A very deep dark plum color for an LBV. One thing I have noticed and come to like about Niepoort's is they typically have very pronounced noses. This was no different with lots of blueberries, red plums, spices, and a little cherry cough syrup. The palate still has lots of tannins to carry its medium body. But on the palate this just wasn't giving much up, even with 12 hours of decanting it was still tight as a drum. This was definitely in a weird spot at the moment as it has the structure to carry on for many years, but the fruit was just totally shut down. As a result I don't think it's fair to give it a score at the moment. If you have some, I'd wait another 4-5 years before opening another. By then I feel this could be a very good LBV. N/R
