1978 Presidential Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

This past weekend some old college buddies and I treked up to the central coast city of Cambria for some major fun and wine tasting in Paso Robles. Since we had access to a car once up there, we decided to take the train up. That way we could start some wine drinking on the way in the comfort of the train. (I must add that many of my notes from this trip were just brief impressions, as I wasn't there to focus on writing TN's.)
This is the same as the Dalva VP, just the U.S.A. named version. I had recently tried this on the Harvest Trip and while a little past its prime, was surprisingly still a very nice bottle to drink. So when I ran across this at a store near me for dirt cheap I grabbed it as a decent everyday drinker. Very similar to the earlier bottle in Porto last month, with soft elegant strawberries, cinnamon, a touch of heat and a pleasant finish. 89 points. 11/07/08
