1983 Croft LBV Port

This was the second and last bottle of this that I had. It is a filtered LBV and had a T-cork that was nearing the end of its life as a sealing device. Anyways, I took it last night when meeting some friends and served it to them blind just to see their reactions. Mind you, they aren't big Port drinkers and usually only drink it when I served it to them. So I figured what better way to get some honest reactions to this. Those reactions were "Wow, this is good", "Blackberries", "Blueberries", "Plums", "Very nice."
To me the tannins were fully resolved and it had some searing acidity. But the fruit was still amazingly fresh and dark with lots of blackberries and plums still on it. While not very complex by anymeans, it was still an enjoyable bottle to drink for an LBV that was never ment to age for 25 years. The finish was medium-short but soft and pleasant. There were no glaring faults with this bottle and it probably showed a little better than the first one. 84 points 11/14/08
