Tasted last night (11-15 08). Purchased and cellared since release. Decanted approx. 2 pm. Grainy sediment. Deep opaque purple color with a ruby red rim. Medium intense aromas of youthful spicy purple berries and plum, some licorice. Not too complex at this stage. Sweet, medium full body, tannins are present but becoming balanced. Delicious fruit character on the palate similar to the nose; spicy, youthful, berry fruit with a very long, slightly medicinal finish. A very concentrated wine. Not showing any secondary aromatic or flavor characters yet, but can be consumed now with pleasure.

Michael,

Thanks for the note. What do you believe is the drinking window of the '94 Crasto VP?

In a perfect world, I would wait for 10 more years for some secondary nuances to be present. There is a lot of fruit, but the structure is very balanced now. I do not think this is a 50 year port. What say you?

I might be a bit more conservative and say 35-40 years, but I have not had it in a year and would rather have a fresher impression before going out on a limb. I certainly trust your palate with Port!
