1977 Graham's Vintage Port

I had this at a dinner on Tuesday night. It was not brought by me but it was still in bottle and not opened yet when I arrived. I was asked if it should be decanted..."Ahh, yes like ASAP" in a large decanter so it could get as much air as possible in a short amount of time. It had been decanted about 3 hours when we started to drink it. No formal notes taken so just some points from my memory.
This was initally very hot on the palate and finish in typical '77 Graham's fashion. But by the end of the evening it was starting to integrate a little and that heat was getting less and less. I wish it had more decanting to really asses if that conroversial heat is truly integrating or not, as there was still noticable excess heat on my last glass. But there was some violets, licorise, lots of acidity, cinnamon spice, and moderate tannins.
