1895 Cockburn's Vintage Port

There was some speculation as to the actual identity of this rare bottle. We knew it was 1895 from its cork, but we were unsure of the shipper. We knew it began with a “C”. It was decanted about 6 hours before we tasted it and the cork was removed carefully to try to ascertain the identity. The Port Sherlock Holmes took their turns and, after much debate, decided it was probably Calem. Still, how often do you get the chance to drink a Port that is 112 years old? A pale terracotta body, with soft aniseed and a hint of dry date and fried bacon. Amazingly, it is still holding itself together, just, with a decently long length that is somewhat alcoholic.
