1996 Quinta do Castelinho Vintage Port

Post by Carlos Rodriguez »

It was decanted 2 hour before.
Clear color for his age, with the transparent edge. Like a much older wine. The smell is good, but it's lacking complexity. In the mouth is nice, very soft and a bit alcoholic. Without persistence. The Port didn't lost his flavor after eight hours of having being decanted.
It's a soft VP to drink in on his own. And a nice VP for pairing it with food. Like a mature spanish cheese, roast veal,... Have a nice try :ftlop: !

Carlos,
Thanks for the TN, this is not a VP ones sees very often here in the states. I know I've never seen it around me for sale so it's great to read a TN on it. From your TN, it seems like it is one for the mid-term drinking window, would you agree?

Andy,
The producer in the back label, recomends to drink it in ten years. I see it, like it's early/mid-term one. I don't think it can improve more, but it can be keep for few years.

Thats an interestingly short window for a producer to recommend drinking in...you sure it's not an LBV
