Had this last night, poped and poured. Bright, medium bronze copper color. Pronounced, nutty caramel, and citrusy aromas. Sweet, balanced acidity with low tannin full body. Very simple on the palate. Not much complexity at all. Disappointing for the price.

Re: 1982 Dows Colheita
Mike,
Thanks for stopping by to register your TN here. It is truly appreciated. I am very sorry you missed our shindig in late Jan. as it would have been great to have you there to share your wisdom and especially to drink with you again. It has been several years now. Was the last time, the 22 vintages of Nacional?
Anyway, you really see very few Dow "Colheitas" per se, and I believe most never used that word and had "Port of the vintage" or more frequently, "Reserve" instead of Colheita. Perchance, do you know what year this was bottled?

Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com

Re: 1982 Dows Colheita
I bought a couple of bottles of this last week from a local wine shop. A few days later, my brother-in-law (who posts on this board) bought a bottle at a different shop. I had never seen a Dow's Colheita before, and now this is the 3rd reference to the 1982 that I have seen in 2 weeks.
Did Dow's just release some quantity of this? It seems to be popping up quite a bit.
Mine were bottled in 2005.

I have had the 1982 Dow's Colheita on several occasions and I like it, but I have to agree that it's disappointing for its price.
Its main attraction for me is its finish - quite long, and with a pronounced granny smith apple flavor after 20-30 seconds.

I haven't had the 1982, but the 1992 I've had a couple of times. While not great it is a nice Colheita for one still so young. The prices I've seen for it though have been all over the map price wise...from inexpensive to out right rip-off overpriced.Alex R wrote:I have tried both 82 and 92 Dow’s colheita and I enjoy the 92 much more! Thanks for the TN on this, Roy's right, we don't see many TN's on these Dow's.
