New Appellation in Portugal

Post by Roy Hersh »

I know that the Vinho Regional (VR) wines of Estremadura and Ribatejo which both have their own VRs are supposed to be brought together under one VR name. I had heard the possibility of VR Lisboa. Does anybody here know if this has already taken place or not? I'd especialy appreciate it if someone had very current news.

Thanks in advance! :winepour:

That was a possibility a few months ago but never came to acomplished because of some problems regarding the presidency. That possibility i think it was abandoned by now.

However, the Region Ribatejo changed it's name and it's now called "TEJO" as in the river that crosses the region.

Outstanding. Yes, Tejo does make sense and of course I now of that famous river. Sad to hear that the two appellations were not combined. Personally, I thought it was a very sound idea. Sorry to see it not happen.
