For The Love Of Port

pop-n-poured last night at an old friends house. there was some left over and after the 1977 Dow's we polished off this lovely bottle. A lot has been written here about this particular VP and this bottle didn't disappoint. So here is the group tasting note on this little gem.

Incrediably dark color extraction shows no sign of its 15 years. More of an earthly, fresh compost nose, bitter sweet chocolate, and brambleberries. A silky smooth entry that explodes into a tannic beast. This is still so young yet also so good to drink. Not many VP's acheive this balance of drinkablity and shear raw youthfullness at the same time. Another VP that is hard to put down and one that the Symington's nailed! If you don't own any of these then you are surely missing out, a VP that belongs in any serious Port collectors cellar. 95+ points

I just opened one bottle over the week-end and my comments are very close to what Andy wrote above, I only did not find compost notes.

It was a surprise for me as it is the 2nd time I open this VP and the first time was a locious and velvety perfectly ripe VP so easy to drink and enjoy like many 94's have always been.

My final thoughts was "after 15 years, is it only this VP or the 94 could be starting their dumb phase"?

Probably my favourite 94 from Symington.

I had a couple of glasses of this on Saturday night too. Will do a TN, but Stewart had a somewhat non-descript decanter for a few people that contained this on his wedding night. Just phenomenal and typical of this beauty. Funny thing, i believe I had gifted that bottle to him at one time. Glad to see it show so nicely for his big event.

I like a LOT of the Symington's 1994 VPs and the Graham's and Dow are no slouches either. I love the Warre as well, one of the greatest young Warre's I've had. Gould too is a top rate VP.

Who said anything about putting it in an arm..I was thinking of drinking out of it

And I thought he was planning to use it to replace his feed tube altogether.
