I do not think their steps will stop fraud. How could they tell one wine from Margaux vs another one that have the same grapes and similar soil make up? How could they tell a 2nd wine vs. a 1st one from the same Chateau?

As long they are ways to detect frauds, there will be ways to mask and fake them.

Many of us our familiar with the steps pro-sports, especially cycling have done to escape being detected. What happens if there is an error on a legitimate wine?

It's just too easy to fake many bottles. Who's going to open a 2007 Petrus Jero to see if they bought a legit bottle? The fraudster has several years before being caught.

I know my example is bit simple, but you get my point hopefully...
