This VP is generally so under-rated, I don't get it. Too many other greats from this vintage or just lack of respect for the Warre's?

It's a great Port. Shows lots of potential. Typically Warre's isn't the most powerful Port, but it might be one of the most balanced. I liked this enough to pick up a case of it recently.

I generally see a lack of respect for Warre's for some reason, something I've mentioned before. I love this house but I think people expect it to be a Fonseca, Taylor's, Dow's, etc. As I've often refered to Warre's as a Rolls Royce; elegant, silky, and sexy. Compared to a Fonseca as a Ferrari; powerful and muscular. Just like you can't expect to drive a Rolls like a Ferrari, even though they are in the same top league of cars, you can't expect a Warre's to be like a Fonseca. I wish more people would give Warre's the credit it deserves.

I expect it to be a Dow's/Graham's, but not a Fonseca/Taylor. I thought the 1994 was fine, but there were a lot of greats from that vintage; so in my book it is overshadowed, ironically by two other Symington labels, Quinta do Vesuvio and Smith Woodhouse.

I have always considered Warre's, even with its odd pronounciation as ware's as in housewares, to be a fine house standing on its own. It has its own subtle style. I have never conisdered it to be a step child in the port family. I don't find as much of it available in this area as I would like. As I posted on the house port for the winter thread, the Warre's Warrior is my choice and a very fine pour.

Me too, and I could swear that I've seen that explained somewhere as the "official" pronunciation.

Yep, me too. Many different pronunciations out there as I found out the other night at Pete's.

I am most likely wrong in my pronounciation. I still don't get why Cockburns is pronounced as though the ck wasn't there. I mean cock should rhyme with lock. There probably is a tradion there but it sounds affected.

You guys are cradle robbers! This port needs another 10 years at least. I split two cases with a friend and he keeps opening his to remind himself “why did I do that”. This is a fantastic vintage from Warre that I am looking forward to down the road. Did not even pull the nails from my OWC…
