Well if anyone on this board manages to buy the 12 bottle lot of ex-cellars Barbeito Terrantez 1795 on offer at Christies New York tomorrow and would like to share the cost of the case, drop me a PM as I would be interested in a bottle (or two, depending on price).

I'm not expecting anything in reply to this mail, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.

What's the estimate, Alex?

Bear in mind that this is for 12 bottles of ex-cellars wine before you read the figures......but the estimate is $40,000-$60,000 and I would wager good money that it will sell for substantially more than top estimate.

I have only had it once, a group of us with 3 bottles that were definitively ex-cellars, along with Michael Broadbent and others I look up to, and as much as I enjoyed it, I have had other Madeiras that I enjoyed more. To me, I'd rather take my chances (at that price) at another bottle of '31 Nacional. BTW, last year the 1795 bottle sold in the USA from the individual with the greatest Madeira cellar in the USA for just over $2k.
