1963 Martinez Vintage Port

Post by Erik Wiechers »

Opened at 19 PM on christmas eve, let it breathe for 2 hours.
Smell of caramel, figs and cherries. Pale pink colour.
Taste of red fruit, caramel, marzipan. Very gentle and soft. It still has enough tannins in it to last another 5 years.
Excellent tearing in the glass, looks like syrup. My friends were impressed by this wine.

The rest of the bottle was consumed while watching " The Wrestler". Mickey Rourke is fabulous in it.

Erik,
I've seen this bottle for sale in the US a number of times over the years, but I never pulled the plug and bought one to try. From your description, sounds like a nice bottle. If I see one for sale again here, and at the right price, I'll have to grab it and give it a go.
