Issues with Portraits

Post by Peter W. Meek »

For PORTraits all I get is:

"Non standard joomla group used. Sorry this is not supported by the bridge"

I think something may be broken. (And I have to say - that may be the most cryptic error message I have ever seen.)

Very strange, it works for me just fine. Please try it again!

Thanks Peter.

Still the same: from ftlop home page, select "Subscribers/PORTraits/View PORTraits" and the same message comes up.

I am using Safari on a Mac.

I will give my other browsers a try...

Same result with Firefox

Same result with Google Chrome

Same results with Opera v 10.10

I also tried resetting all FTLOP cookies and restarting. Still the same cryptic error message.

I also tried logging out and attempting to view PORTraits as a guest. No go.

I've done Beta testing before; I know what it means to wring out a new system and try all possible ways of working it.

Peter,

I've now been in touch with 9 :ftlop: participants. All have no issues seeing PORTraits. Are you STILL having that same issue?

Yes, I still get this message. Both at home and at my work computer.
Non standard joomla group used. Sorry this is not supported by the bridge

I click on (from the home page) Subscribers/PORTraits/View PORTraits

which (when I copy the link turns out to be: http://www.fortheloveofport.com/portraits/

This is interpreted as: http://www.fortheloveofport.com/portraits/index.php
(this being the first existing filename from a list that includes index.html, start.html, home.html, etc which html servers look for)

I use a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 and Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Opera browsers (all fairly up to date).

With Chrome I get the PORTraits page.

With Safari, Firefox and Opera I get this response: Non standard joomla group used. Sorry this is not supported by the bridge

(When I 'View Source', there is no HTML, just that text.)

Googling finds there is a Joomla development tool which may be generating this message.

I suspect the other browsers are not returning some parameter properly, and this is the error message that php is generating.

You might have your PHP expert check to see exactly what causes this error message to be returned. I am available at most times to do "live" experimenting with your expert.

I also get that error message. I'm using IE version 8.0.7600.16385.

And as always, I'm also available (and conveniently close) if you'd like me to do some experimenting to help Stuart/Dave.

Seamonkey? No wonder it doesn't work. How can a monkey use a computer in the sea [shok.gif] (ok dumb joke, but I finally found an excuse to use that emoticon)

You put a hundred in the sea and one figures it out. Sad for the other 99.

Hey Peter - know anyone with a PC that you can try? Maybe see if you get the same error so we can isolate whether or not this is a Mac-only issue?
I believe that Andy is using a Mac as well?
How about you Eric?

Anyone experiencing this issue on a PC?

Thanks for your patience, guys as we try to figure out what's happening.

Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit with SeaMonkey 1.1.18.

I just tested on XP-64 with IE 6.0, with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. In both cases, the page comes up, and then I get an error dialog. Line 231 of http://www.fortheloveofport.com/templat ... scripts.js, "Error: 'null' is null or not an object" It seems to otherwise be functional there, and this code appears to be Explorer specific, so I think this is unrelated.

Stewart this is not isolated to a MAC.

My work computer is a PC, home is a MAC. Both have the same error message.

HOWEVER, today at work when I log in under my username I CANNOT access it. When I log out and view it as a guest I can see it. So it appears to be specific to certain users profiles for some reason.

I am home now and on my MAC. If I am logged in I cannot see Portraits and get the error message.

However, if I log out and I can view Portraits just fine as a "guest" I cannot upload pics though since I am not logged in.

So again, it appears to be user specific for some reason.
