First Race of the Year

Post by michael miller »

9 am start, freezing cold in Memphis on Saturday. No team mates, so I scoped out one of the local teams to hang on to. Sat in the bunch for about an hour and a half. Made my way to the front just in time to catch the break that stuck. Only 7 of us. Then with about 200 meters to go one of local guys tries to run me in to the ditch. I had to stop pedaling just long enough to lose contact with their leadout. Finished 6th, unscathed, but very pissed. Still, felt good about things and did not have to go too deep. Nice, easy 35 miles with my wife today. Maybe some port tonight?

Good job on making the break! At least you didn't end up in the ditch like I did in my first race this year.
