2007 Dow's Vintage Port

Post by John M. »

Tasted 3/26/2010. Decanted 24 Hours. This one's got it's groove going on. Plums and deep grape, almost floral on the nose and tongue. Beautifully and surprisingly sweet. Large, easy finish that lingered and never over-powered. Lots of promise for this one as it matures and the sugar mellows.

This port was blind tasted along with the following 2007 VPs with the following scores on a 20 pnt scale:

Graham’s 2007 VP 18 pnts
Dow’s 2007 VP 17 points
Burmester 2007 VP 15 pnts

The Dow and Graham are an excellent comparison of similar, excellent ports of the same vintage. Out of 10 port friends 4 preferred Graham’s, 2 Dow’s, 4 were equivalent. Only 1 had Burmester anything but 3rd in this line-up—but it was well received nonetheless.
Any Port in a storm!
