Spotted the `06 Domaine Houchart Cotes de Provence downtown, a staff pick! Opened one hr but not decanted. Blend of Grenache, CS, Syrah, Carignan. Everyone knows the pinkie from here, this red is best served slightly chilled imo. Light color, nose is aromatic with berries and spice.
On the palate, soft tannins, juicy, black and red berries. Dry, no bitterness, light weight. Will be interesting to check what is left this evening.
My last split of the `94 Quinta do Noval LBV was a delight and despite various comments elsewhere, I would not hold onto this wine too long. Deepish red color, strawberry and marzipan on nose. Soft sweet black fruits, drinks so nicely now, why wait? I enjoyed the lush richness here, what else to say eh.
