4-19-2010. On removing the capsule, this bottle showed a bit of wet seepage and a thoroughly saturated cork. Fill was well into the neck. Filtered and decanted 5 hours plus 3 hours in the glass. In the glass this was quite a pretty, deep ruby-cranberry color, though somewhat murky. Just a bit of buttery caramel and raison on a generally muted and oxidized nose, with a serious wallop of alcohol. Palate was similar, with a bit of gentle fruit trying to poke through, but the searing alcohol really masked everything else. By the end of the evening, the alcohol still had not come significantly into balance. A mediocre showing from a bottle that was obviously not in perfect condition. 89 points.
