Decanted for 5 hours before pouring and then consumed over the next 2 hours.
Dark purple in color with a bright, plum red rim. Rich nose of black cherry, boysenberry, dark chocolate, coffee and licorice. Slightly floral as well as earthy. Medium sweet on the palate with delicious black currant and boysenberry fruit, well integrated spirit and firm but approachable tannins that show up on the medium range finish. Very enjoyable VP that probably would have benefited from some more time in the decanter but was impressive nonetheless. I'd give it another 10-15 years before it starts to hit its stride. 92+ pts, Tasted 4/21/10
