Bottled in 1999
A deep golden brown that is typically found in older Colheita's, not ones this young. I've slowly been sipping on this for the past 5 days and it has really improved since the first. A bit cloying and only moderately complex at first this has made quite a change. Globs of mahogany and the slightest touch of VA on the nose are quite alluring. I mentioned this was a bit cloying at first and now a few days later the acidity is more prominent and keeps the maple bar, old cedar, and mahogany in check. And there is no way to miss all that pronounced nutmeg either. The finish, while a little short, still has plenty going on to keep me wanting more. While this bottling year is holding up well, better to drink them sooner rather than later. I'd love to find a more recent bottling of this to compare. As I'd guess a "fresher" bottle would show even better. 91 Points
